John Zalla President and CEO
John is a third-generation owner of our family-owned and operated business. He has been hard at work with BCI since 1995. With the help of his talented executive team and field leadership staff, BCI has experienced over 100% growth since John became president in 2008. His strategic vision has fostered the innovative and cost-effective building solutions our clients have come to expect. And with a strong focus on continuous culture improvement, John has cultivated the personal and professional development of each associate.

Shannon Stallmeyer Chief Financial Officer
Shannon Stallmeyer is the Chief Financial Officer at Building Crafts, Inc., with responsibility for managing all aspects of the company’s accounting and finance activities including financial records, payroll, banking, budget analysis and daily operation of the accounting department. She started her career with Building Crafts, Inc. in 2011 and has over 18 years of experience in construction finance and CPA work. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Brad Miller Vice President of Midwest Operations
Brad has been with Building Crafts since 2007 and brought almost 15 years of previous experience building water and wastewater treatment facilities to BCI. He is an experienced Project Manager and Estimator with deep relationships in the Greater Cincinnati region. Brad uses his experience in estimating, managing, problem solving and project commissioning to direct all Midwest operations and to successfully deliver projects for its clients.

Chad Nickolisen Vice President of the Great Plains Regional Office
Chad Nickolisen, Vice President of the Great Plains Regional office, brings over 30 years of expertise from work as a Project Superintendent and Project Manager. Chad has heavily specialized in wastewater/water treatment plants for most of career but also has experience building other facilities such as medical, educational, to water park complexes to name a few. Chad believes in building strong relationships with clients, engineers, and co-workers and has a strong track record all over Iowa and Nebraska to prove it.

Darryl R. Geiman P.E. Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer
Darryl has been with Building Crafts since 1997 and is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer. Darryl serves as the corporate Secretary and Treasurer, supervises shop operations across the company, designs shoring and forming systems, and visits local high schools to talk about careers in construction management and engineering. In addition to these many responsibilities, Darryl also maintains a full project management workload that draws on his many years of experience in the Greater Cincinnati region. Darryl is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati.

Todd Bailik Vice President and Director of Industrial Solutions Division
Todd has focused his 29 year career in the water and wastewater industry, participating in the design and construction of hundreds of industrial wastewater treatment systems. Todd’s experience includes working as an Engineering Consultant and Vice President of Engineering for an industrial wastewater equipment manufacturer. He is currently the Vice President for the Industrial Solutions Division of Building Crafts, Inc. overseeing all of BCI’s industrial projects across the county.

Troy Hall Commercial Services Manager
Troy specializes in commercial construction. He has been negotiating contracts for new buildings, additions, remodels and maintenance projects with Farm Credit Services of America for the last 21 years. Prior to that, he was responsible for building educational facilities, theatres and municipal projects. His management, scheduling, budgeting and cost saving skills are key contributors to his success in providing quality projects to clients over the last 32 years.

Jeff King Corporate Safety Director
Jeff has a proven track record of working with construction professionals on all types of projects to be a valuable resource and to improve worker safety without jeopardizing progress or quality. Jeff has worked on high-profile projects such as the FC Cincinnati TQL Stadium and the Cincinnati Union Terminal reconstruction. He has a degree in Occupational Safety & Health Technology and Industrial Management from Jacksonville State University.

Steve James Director of Emerging Leader Development
Steve has been with Building Crafts since 2012 and serves on the BCI leadership team as the Director of Employee Development for our vibrant staff of Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers. Steve also serves as the Project Manager for multiple projects at any given time. His projects have serviced private, industrial and municipal clients alike. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.

Shane Paxton Texas Operations Manager
Shane has been with Building Crafts since 2007 and has a civil engineering degree from the University of Cincinnati. Shane has 25+ years of experience managing and estimating water and wastewater projects. Included in this experience is several years of managing design-build projects. For the last 4+ years, Shane was responsible for all estimates on municipal projects in the Kentucky region while maintaining a project management duties. Shane has been promoted to the Southwest Regional Operations Manager and been tasked with building an operation in Texas.

Rob Birkenhauer Corporate Business Development Manager
Rob started with BCI in 2008 as a Field Engineer. As a Project Manager he has led the successful construction of dozens of projects for both Industrial and Municipal clients. Rob’s background as a PM and Estimator along with valued communication skills have allowed him to cultivate relationships with countless owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration.

Brad Erwin Great Plains Manager of Emerging Leader Development
Brad Erwin has been with Building Crafts since 2017 and is part of the BCI leadership team and serves as the manager of emerging leader development for the Great Plains Regional Office. Brad has 20+ years of experience managing varies projects within the construction industry . Included in this experience is the management of water & wastewater, industrial, commercial and design-build projects. Brad is the responsible for the training and development for the project managers, project engineers, assistant superintendents and interns of GPRO, while maintaining his project management duties. He is a graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. degree in Construction Management.

Eric Davis Project Superintendent
Eric is a dedicated, high-energy supervisor with 30 years of construction experience. He has been a full-time superintendent at Building Crafts for 22 years. Prior to this, he was a co-op at Building Crafts for 4 years, and also brought in 4 years of previous construction experience. Eric is part of the BCI Leadership Team, working to train and promote Project Engineers and Assistant Superintendents. Eric received a BS in Construction Management from the University of Cincinnati. He is a certified crane operator, and is experienced in Computer-Aided Drafting. He is a highly motivated superintendent and knows how to motivate and receive quality work from his crews.
