Sludge Processing and Biosolids Management Improvements Project Case Study
This project converted and existing primary and secondary anaerobic digestion process to an Autothermal Thermophilic Aerobic Digestion (ATAD) process by constructing a new ATAD reactor tank, converting the existing digestors to a second ATAD reactor and a Sludge Storage Tank. The project included a new heat exchanger, sludge mixing pumps, blowers, odor control tank and automation to control the overall system.
The project also included conversion of existing sludge blending tanks to a new sludge blending and thickening facility. Work also included replacement of an existing belt press with a new centrifuge, complete with new sludge and lime conveyors. Final component of the project was the construction of a 10,000 sf Biosolids Storage building with a central conveyor.
